Networking Events

In 2008, we will have events around the city in order to connect young people to each other. If you are new to the city, it is a great way to meet people that are interested in making strong business connections. We try to do our events in as many different neighborhoods as possible. Some of our past events have been at the W Hotel in the French Quarter, LePhare, Republic, Contemporary Arts Center, and in March, we will be having one for all the student volunteersat the Museum of Art at City Park. If your business would like to host/or sponsor an event or you want to suggest a place, please email info@nolayurp.org.

"Opportunities and Challenges in New Orleans" Workshops

For Teen and/or Adult Groups

If you are a volunteer group, and you are interested in adding to your volunteer experience, we provide workshops that give your group the chance to meet the young people in New Orleans who are making a significant impact. It is a great opportunity to listen to young people who work in all sectors about what it means to live and work in New Orleans.

For College Students

In 2008, we will be travelling around the country facilitating different workshops with student groups about how they can get involved in the recovery effort in New Orleans. In the past, we have held workshops at Yale University, Loyola New Orleans, Spring Hill College, and University of Michigan. Contact kendrick@nolayurp.org if your school is interested. In March, we will be hosting students in New Orleans from schools around the country.

Roundtable Discussions/ Education Workshops

In 2007, we did workshops at Xavier about how young people could become more civically enagaged and a discussion titled "Youth, Race and Class Matter" in New Orleans East. In 2008, we will be doing financial literacy programs, film screenings, New Orleans history programs, and roundtable discussions on different issues in New Orleans.
